Lawsuit Settlement

Tom McElyea reached and out of court settlement on behalf of client arising out of sexual abuse suffered at the hands of convicted felon Jon Warnshuis. The was lawsuit originally filed in 2008 against The Dallas Theological Seminary and Oak Hills Free Evangelical Church. The confidential settlement involved sexual abuse of a minor male he endured while a member of the Oak Hills church in Argyle, Texas. The settlement was reached in two parts- in June 2009 with the Oak Hills Free Evangelical Church and with Dallas Theological Seminary in December, 2009.

In a companion case filed in 2009, another settlement on behalf of a client who also was abused by Jon Warnshuis was subsequently settled. In the Summer of 2010, the victim reached a confidential settlement with Oak Hills and later that year in 2010, the Dallas Theological Seminary reached a confidential settlement with the victim also represented by Tom McElyea.
